Happy Veteran's Day

I know I'm a day late posting this...sorry....I was enjoying the day with my hubby! I received this story in my e-mail and thought it was worth posting for you all to read. I am thankful for my American Freedom and all those who make sacrafices for it!

The Sack Lunches

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be along flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle andfilled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation.'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.'Petawawa. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Afghanistan.

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached the east, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time..As I reached for my wallet, Ioverheard a soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch.'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to base 'His friend agreed.I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill.'Take a lunch to all those soldiers..' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Iraq ; it's almost like you are doing it for him.

'Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you likebest - beef or chicken?''Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked. She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class. 'This is your thanks.

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room.A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it.Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming downthe aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked, I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane. When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand, an said,'I want to shake your hand.'Quickly unfastening my seatbelt Istood and took the Captain's hand....With a booming voice he said, 'I wasa soldier and I was a military pilot.. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassedwhen applause was heard from all ofthe passengers.Later I walked to the front of theplane so I could stretch my legs.A man who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He leftanother twenty-five dollars in my palm. When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to deplane.Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, putsomething in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw thesoldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base. It will be about time for a sandwich.God Bless You.'Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travelers. As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were giving their all for our country... I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little.....

A veteran is someone who, at onepoint in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including My life.'That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'

I hope you all have a blessed day!

Baptisms November 2009

Maci drew this picture at Awana on Sunday afternoon. She said it's her getting baptized......

Needless to say, I am one proud Mama! My girls were baptized on Sunday! We attended a class earlier in the week with them to make sure they understood why they were doing this and they were so excited! We knew that they prayed to ask Jesus into their hearts and they totally understood that. As Chaplain Adamson said, it's an outward sign of a change that's already taken place inside. It's going to be amazing to watch them grow in their faith. Logan said that she thought she might want to be a preacher! I am proud to call them my sisters in Christ!

They were baptized at the Lakenheath Chapel's 5:00 p.m. service. Our Chapel at Mildenhall doesn't have a baptismal fount and Lakenheath was kind enough to let us join their service for last night. This was quite different for me....being Southern Baptist, they have the baptismal at the front of the church right under the under the cross...... This is just one of the many things that we will cherish about living in the UK for 3 years. God truly does place you where you need to be for His purposes! Praise the Lord! You know best!

Our favorite Chaplain.....Chaplain Adamson

Thanks for Miss Johanna for coming out!

My Heaven-bound babies! Thank you Jesus!

My philosophical 8 year old.....

We were driving home from school today and Logan was oohing and aahing over some pre-schoolers crossing the street. I told her she would make a good Mommy some day. She informed me that I would cry if she had kids. I asked her why and she said that I would be sad when she grew up. Of course I will be sad, but you will grow up anyway. She said that she wants to be a school teacher and have a builder make her own school house with one room (I'm suspecting this has something to do with watching Little House on the Prairie), and she wanted to know if I thought that would be too old fashioned. I told her of course not and she told me that I could be her sub! lol!

A little bit later she told me that she wasn't going to be married and that she would be living with us FOREVER! I told her that she would meet a boy and her mind would change when she was about 30 (or older). She said that she would talk to boys THEN but that he better not propose. Again I asked her why and she said that she couldn't hurt his feelings, but she didn't want to get married. Then she asked about when Dale proposed to me, so I told her that story ( I'll save that for another time). So then she said that we better get used to her, because she was never going to leave us and IF she did get married she didn't care how mad her husband got....they were going to live with us! And she wanted me to tell Dale that she would always be his little girl.

This was all talked about in about a 7 minute drive home from school. I guess she was doing a lot of thinking today. I'm not ready for her to grow-up yet!

I still have to work on my Maci's B-day post....even though her birthday was Monday! This full-time kindergarten is keeping me hopping! Y'all have a great Friday!

Pumpkin Patch 2009

After a blessed and wonderful day of church, we headed out to the pumpkin patch for some photo ops and pony rides for the girls. Maci wasn't so sure at first but after Logan hopped right on, she decided it must be OK. 8}

Y'all have a FABULOUS and BLESSED Monday!

Maci's skating party....

So, we've had a busy weekend! We had Maci's party yesterday afternoon and it was soooo great! She was really thrilled! We have the most amazing friends over here in the UK! God has truly blessed us! After the part-y we came home and played with her new toys, or the girls did after Dale and I found the Razorbacks on TV....that's 2 weekends in a row! We were so excited....especially when we were winning at half-time! We (or I) expected to get crushed by #1 Florida and we ended up losing in the last seconds of the game by a field goal! HEARTBREAKING!!!! Ok, I'm don whining...for now.

Here are a few highlights of the party......

A little YMCA action............

All the ladies in the house say "HEY".........

Dale and Logan taking a rest.

And this is the sewing machine I picked up at the auction last weekend! I didn't get it in the last post, so here ya go!

More to come.......we had a trip to the pumpkin patch also today!
